The quietest blog relaunch in history

New Year
Today is the first day of the new year according to Hijri Calendar. I thought it would be symbolic to relaunch my blog. So I did just that.

Not a new year resolution
I just want to start my blog. Then I remember it’s new year. So its the other way around. I don’t write now because it’s new year. I just need some excuse to write it now, to do the relaunch now… after procrastinating for so many years.

I was once a blogaholic
I’m not sure if anyone remembers. I myself having a hard time picturing me as one. I blogged here for about 3 years (unfortunately, it’s 98.2% in Malay). That’s the most productive blogging I’ve ever done (if you can count nonsense-who-cares blogging as productive). I scored about 100 pageviews per day. Which is not much, I know.

Then I blogged on my own domain, on and off, for 2 years. Then, I found a new obsession: building websites (mostly on Wordpress). I built, I wrote something. Then, I got bored, rebuilt it, wrote something. Then, I got bored… you get the idea.

During that two years, I wrote something all over the net. Well, not all over as in so many writing but all over as in I couldn’t recall what I’ve written and how many blogs I’ve started.

And for some offline publication, too.

(Not so) encore
Some people keep asking me to write something and to maintain my blog properly. As if I’m their personal journalist or something.

One guy said if he wants to know anything about Malaysian politics, he would read my blog. Because I sort of commented about politics (and parodied it) a lot back then.

Some others would ask my opinion about something. Particularly in areas I’ve written about. How cool is that when people come to you asking for your opinion?

Now I’m back…
Last week (or so), I made a promise to Zurairi to write an article for Unscientific Malaysia. I didn’t know why I made that promise but I managed to write an article: Predicting the past. It’s about why the deceased always act weird before death. Click here to read it.

And I found my blogger self back.

…but I don’t have anything to write
So I just write anything. I write this. Just to keep things moving. Snowball effect. Ready-fire-aim. Whatever.

Because otherwise, I will not start.

That’s why this post is full of nothing.

Consider this a soft opening. A preview. You’re invited, obviously.

Things will get better. I promise.

What would I write?
My writings would be a subset of things that I care about. To get a sense of things that I care about, you can follow me on Twitter.

Some other catalysts
These pieces of articles help me in, some way or another, to consider relaunching this blog:

1. Effortless writing: How to overcome writer’s block, let your words flow and rekindle your love of the craft by David Turnbull
2. Write with passion. The rest will fall into place by Matt Chevy

They are both super duper very cool. Follow them. While you’re at it, follow Zurairi (twisted tongue? Just call him Zek). He’s cool, too.
